The ATEN VW3620 is a rack-mount modular video wall processor built for large-scale display deployments that demand flexible I/O configuration and high-resolution source handling. It occupies 7U of rack space and supports up to 32 4K inputs across 7 input board slots and up to 20 4K outputs across 5 output board slots — giving control room, broadcast, and command center integrators the headroom to scale without swapping out the chassis. Two additional slots are reserved for function boards but can double as input slots when the application demands more sources than control logic. Interface types depend entirely on which I/O boards are inserted, so the VW3620 adapts to the signal formats already present in the installation rather than forcing a conversion layer upstream.
The VW3620 is the chassis for ATEN's VW Series modular I/O boards. Compatible input and output board families include ATEN's VW Series HDMI, DisplayPort, DVI, and SDI board options (verify current board lineup against ATEN's VW3620 board compatibility list before ordering — board availability changes with firmware revisions). Daisy-chaining to expand output reach uses the two RJ45 daisy chain ports, enabling multi-chassis video wall configurations. EDID management supports Default, Port1, Remix, and Customized modes with EDID Wizard support, making it compatible with downstream displays that require non-standard EDID negotiation — relevant when mixing display brands or panel generations in the same wall. Firmware v1.2.111 (released 2025-12-17) is the current baseline; confirm board firmware parity before commissioning a mixed-generation system.
The VW3620 requires a standard 7U rack bay and draws up to 10A at 100–240 VAC, 50–60 Hz — size your PDU circuit accordingly and avoid sharing a 15A branch circuit with other high-draw rack gear. Three USB ports handle keyboard, mouse, and firmware upgrade or storage functions. An optional redundant hot-swap PSU is available separately; if uptime requirements preclude any single point of failure on the power side, spec that option at time of purchase rather than retrofitting. Maintain ambient humidity below 80% RH non-condensing at the rack location — standard for enclosed rack environments but worth confirming in any industrial or warehouse control room where humidity control is less precise.
