Overview
The Middle Atlantic U3V is a 3-rack-unit (5-1/4 in.) vented utility shelf designed for standard 19-inch equipment racks. The U3V occupies 3U of vertical rack space and delivers 15 inches of usable depth — enough for unmanaged switches, media converters, small UPS units, or ancillary surveillance hardware that lacks integral rack ears. Ventilation keeps heat from building up around equipment that dissipates meaningful wattage in enclosed rack bays. At a 70 lb (31.8 kg) rated load capacity, it handles dense hardware without flexing under load.
Compatibility
Fits any Middle Atlantic rack enclosure or open-frame rack with standard 19-inch EIA-310 rail spacing. Compatible with Middle Atlantic ERK, RACK, and BGR series enclosures, as well as third-party 19-inch rack accessories and open-frame relay racks from any manufacturer following the EIA-310 standard. The 2-point front-mount design attaches to standard square-hole, round-hole, and threaded-hole rack rails. The 15-inch usable depth accommodates most 1U and 2U ancillary devices used alongside network video recorders, PoE switches, and rack-mount power distribution units in a surveillance head-end rack. Verify internal rack clear depth before ordering — the shelf itself measures 15.38 in. overall.
Installation Notes
The U3V ships as a single shelf unit. Mount from the front rails only using the 2 provided mounting points; no rear rail support is required for loads within the 70 lb capacity. Confirm available rack unit count before install — 3U consumed leaves no room for a 1U patch panel directly above or below without planning adjacency. Vented top surface requires no tools for equipment placement; secure shelf hardware to rack rails with standard M6 or 10-32 cage nuts matching your rack rail type.
