Overview
The ATEN CS782DP is a 2-port KVM switch that shares a single USB keyboard, mouse, and DisplayPort monitor between two computers — resolving the desk-space and cable problem in dual-workstation setups where running separate peripherals per machine is not practical. It handles DisplayPort resolutions up to 4096 x 2160 @ 60 Hz and 2560 x 1440 @ 144 Hz, so high-refresh-rate monitors and 4K displays stay at full native output when switching between hosts. Port selection is available via three methods — keyboard hotkey, mouse trigger, or the included Remote Port Selector (3.5mm / 2.5mm audio jack female connector) — giving operators flexibility depending on the physical environment. The CS782DP supports USB keyboard and mouse pass-through and includes an auto-scan mode with configurable intervals of 3, 5, 10, or 20 seconds (default 5 seconds), useful for monitoring both machines from a single display without manual switching.
Compatibility
Designed for any two computers with DisplayPort video output and USB ports. Compatible with standard USB HID keyboards and mice. The Remote Port Selector connects via the 2.5mm audio jack female port on the unit. The CS782DP is suited for environments running dual workstations — engineering, CAD, broadcast, or security operations centers — where both machines need access to the same 4K-capable display. Firmware version v1.2.117 (released 2023-11-16) is the current shipping firmware; upgrade is user-installable via the provided zip package.
Installation Notes
Operating humidity range is 0–80% RH non-condensing — install in a climate-controlled space, not in an unventilated rack enclosure with high ambient moisture. The unit is rack-mountable; note that physical dimensions follow a Length x Width x Height format per ATEN's rack product convention, not the standard W x D x H. Confirm rack depth clearance before ordering if space is tight.
