Overview
The ATEN CL3800NW is a 1U rack-mount LCD console designed for data center and server room deployments where direct local access to KVM-connected systems is required without a separate crash cart. The CL3800NW integrates a 19-inch widescreen display with a keyboard and USB touchpad into a single short-depth 1U drawer, keeping your rack footprint tight and your access path clean. It supports input resolutions up to 1920×1200 @ 60 Hz — enough horizontal pixel density to manage GUI-heavy server interfaces without squinting — and accepts DDC2B video signaling for automatic display capability negotiation with the connected host. Console selection is handled via hotkey, eliminating the need to reach for additional hardware during switching sequences. Power is controlled via a front-panel LED pushbutton, and a built-in LED illumination light provides ambient lighting at the console without requiring an external task light in low-light rack environments.
Compatibility
The CL3800NW is documented as the display/console module for the ATEN CL3800NX integrated KVM switch platform. It is specifically paired with the CL3800NX base unit and is not a standalone KVM switch. Keyboard and mouse connectivity uses USB, so connected systems must present USB HID support — standard on all modern server platforms. The video input accepts DVI, HDMI, and VGA signals, covering the full range of port configurations you'll encounter across mixed-generation server hardware in a single rack. Input power is universal: 100–240V AC, 50–60Hz, 1A max, so no step-down transformer is needed in international deployments or mixed-voltage rack environments. Installation Notes
Operating humidity tolerance is 0–80% RH non-condensing — adequate for climate-controlled server rooms but not suitable for unconditioned spaces. Body dimensions on the spec sheet exclude I/O ports, handles, and mounting brackets; measure your available rack depth with those clearances in mind before ordering. Firmware is field-upgradeable; the current validated release is v1.5.142 (2023-06-27), available as a ZIP package from ATEN's support site.
