Overview

The Middle Atlantic BRK16-22 is a 16-rack-unit, 22-inch-deep knockdown wood rack built for AV equipment rooms, server closets, and security head-end deployments where a free-standing open rack is the right fit. At 21.5 inches of usable depth and 28 inches of usable height (16 RU), it handles standard 1U–4U NVRs, patch panels, and AV receivers without forcing an over-sized enclosure into a tight room. The black wood grain laminate finish blends into finished spaces — utility closets, conference back rooms, and residential or light commercial security head-ends — where bare steel racks look out of place. The knockdown design ships flat, reduces freight damage risk, and assembles on-site without specialized tools. 10-32 threaded rack rails accept standard cage nuts and rack screws used across virtually all rackmount security and AV gear. Weight capacity is 200 lbs (90.7 kg), which comfortably covers a fully loaded NVR with drives, a PoE switch, and a UPS in a 16 RU build.

Compatibility

The BRK16-22 accepts any standard 19-inch EIA-310 rackmount equipment using 10-32 threaded rails — the same rail standard used by network video recorders, PoE network switches, patch panels, and 1U/2U UPS units. The 21.5-inch usable depth accommodates most 1U–2U NVRs and switches without rear-bracket extensions. Verify equipment depth against the 21.5-inch usable figure before ordering — some 2U UPS units and high-density switches run 22–24 inches deep and will not fit. This rack is suited to Middle Atlantic accessories including lacing bars, blanks, and shelves designed for the BRK series. Not intended for outdoor installation or environments with humidity extremes.

Installation Notes

Ships as a knockdown rack enclosure — allow 30–45 minutes for assembly. Level the unit before loading equipment; the wood frame has no leveling feet, so shim as needed on uneven floors. The 10-32 threaded rails require standard 10-32 rack screws (not included); cage nuts are not needed since the rails are pre-threaded. Confirm rough-in floor space: the outer width is 20.7 inches and outer height is 29.63 inches. Route cable management through the open frame before seating high-density patch panels. If integrating into a surveillance head-end, plan vertical cable runs along the left or right upright before populating all 16 RU.
