Overview

The Middle Atlantic BRK12-28 is a 12U, 28-inch-deep knockdown rack built for AV and security equipment rooms where a full-depth steel cabinet is overkill and a clean, furniture-grade finish matters. At 20.7 in wide and 22.63 in tall, this rack fits tightly against a wall or in a shallow closet — exactly where most residential and light-commercial security head-end installations land. The 27.5 in of usable depth handles full-size NVRs, DVRs, and patch panels without the rear-panel crowding that shorter racks create. The 200 lb weight capacity is enough for a fully populated 12U system: a mid-range network video recorder, a PoE switch, a UPS, and cabling infrastructure in a single enclosure. Black wood grain laminate over wood construction blends into furnished spaces where exposed steel racks would look out of place.

Compatibility

The BRK12-28 uses standard 10-32 threaded rack rails, which accept cage nuts and 10-32 screws — the universal fastening system for 1U and 2U rack-mount equipment across Middle Atlantic product lines, as well as rack-mount NVRs, switches, UPS units, and patch panels from virtually every major manufacturer. The 12 RU capacity suits installations using compact 1U–2U devices: a 1U 16-channel NVR, a 1U 8-port PoE switch, a 1U patch panel, and a 2U UPS still leaves 6U of open space for future expansion. Knockdown construction means the rack ships flat and assembles on-site — useful for installations where moving a pre-assembled cabinet through a narrow hallway or doorway is impractical. Pair with Middle Atlantic's standard rack shelves, blanks, and cable management accessories as needed; all Middle Atlantic BRK-series accessories are dimensionally compatible with standard EIA 19-inch rack spacing.

Installation Notes

Knockdown assembly requires basic hand tools. The 63 lb shipping weight accounts for packaging; the assembled rack itself is lighter and manageable for a one-person install on a flat surface. Usable interior depth of 27.5 in leaves a 0.5 in margin versus total rack depth — plan cable routing at the rear of equipment before committing to shelf positions. Wood construction is suited to interior, climate-controlled spaces only; do not install in unconditioned areas subject to moisture or temperature extremes.
