Description

Altronix ALTV2416CBX220 16-Output 24VAC CCTV Power Supply 220V

Overview

The Altronix ALTV2416CBX220 is a centralized 24VAC CCTV power distribution unit designed for international and non-standard voltage installations where the local mains supply runs at 220VAC. With 16 individually PTC-protected outputs, it lets you feed an entire camera run from a single lockable enclosure — eliminating the cost and clutter of individual plug-in transformers at each device. If you're deploying analog or HD-over-coax cameras in a facility wired for 220VAC (common in Europe, Latin America, the Middle East, and many industrial sites), this is the power architecture to reach for.

Key Features

  • 220VAC Input with Wide Operating Range (198–256VAC): The ALTV2416CBX220 accepts input from 198VAC to 256VAC at 50 or 60Hz, which means it handles the real-world voltage swings common on international mains — not just the nominal 220V. Facilities with fluctuating grid quality won't pull the unit out of spec during a brown-out or surge event.
  • 16 Individually PTC-Protected Outputs at 2.5A Each: Every output has its own resettable Positive Temperature Coefficient (PTC) overcurrent device. A shorted or overloaded camera port trips that output only — the remaining 15 cameras keep running. PTC devices self-reset once the fault clears, so you won't be swapping fuses on a ladder at 2am. Each output is rated to 2.5A, giving you headroom for motorized-lens or IR-heavy cameras that draw more than the 700mA a basic fixed camera needs.
  • Selectable 24VAC or 28VAC Output: Switch between 24VAC at 7A total and 28VAC at 6A total to match the nominal voltage your cameras specify. Most analog and HD-over-coax cameras are rated 24VAC, but 28VAC accommodates longer cable runs where voltage drop would otherwise starve a camera at the end of a 300-foot home-run.
  • 7A Total Output Capacity: At 24VAC, 7A supports a realistic mix of 16 cameras drawing 400–500mA each — standard for fixed-lens IR cameras. At 28VAC the aggregate drops to 6A, which still comfortably covers 16 cameras if you're not running maximum PTC load on every port simultaneously. Plan your load budget before you terminate: 16 × 2.5A PTC rating is 40A possible, but 7A aggregate is the real ceiling.
  • CE Agency Listing: CE marking confirms the unit has been evaluated for electromagnetic compatibility and electrical safety under applicable EU directives — a requirement for installations in CE-territory countries, not just a checkbox.
