Description

Black Box LCN300-1 1ft Thinnet Cable

Overview

The Black Box LCN300-1 is a 1-foot, black, PVC-jacketed Thinnet (coaxial) cable. This cable is designed for use in legacy Ethernet network installations that utilize Thinnet cabling infrastructure. Its short length is ideal for connecting devices in close proximity or for patching within a small network segment, minimizing cable clutter and signal degradation over distance.

Compatibility

This cable is specifically designed for Thinnet (10BASE2) network architectures. It is compatible with network interface cards (NICs) and network devices that feature BNC connectors for Thinnet coaxial cable. It is not compatible with modern Ethernet standards like Cat5e, Cat6, or fiber optics.

Installation Notes

Ensure that all BNC connectors are securely fastened to prevent signal loss. For optimal performance in a Thinnet network, proper termination with 50-ohm terminators at the ends of the coaxial backbone is critical. The PVC jacket provides basic protection but is intended for indoor, controlled environments.
