Description

System Sensor PC2WHK Ceiling-Mount Horn Strobe White 2-Wire

Overview

The PC2WHK is a 2-wire, ceiling-mounted horn strobe for fire alarm notification in commercial and industrial facilities. Operating at 12VDC, it combines audible (88+ dBA at 16 volts) and visual (strobe) signaling in a single plug-in unit — eliminating the need for separate horn and strobe devices and reducing back-box wiring complexity. This form factor is standard for building code-compliant notification in offices, warehouses, and multi-tenant environments where fast, reliable installation matters.

Compatibility

The PC2WHK integrates with fire alarm control panels and power supplies that deliver 12VDC at the required current. Its 2-wire configuration supports standard commercial fire alarm infrastructure. The plug-in design and universal mounting plate work with most ceiling back-box configurations. Verify your control panel's output rating and wiring capacity before installation — horn strobes draw meaningful current during alarm state, and undersized conductors or weak power supplies will cause nuisance troubles or device shutdown.

Audio and Visual Output

Horn output is rated at 88+ dBA in a reverberant room (measured at 16 volts) — sufficient for open office and retail notification but may require supplementary horns in high-noise industrial environments or large open spaces. Strobe output is field-selectable from 15 to 185 candela via an onboard rotary switch, allowing you to tune brightness to ceiling height and ambient light without rewiring. The automatic voltage detection adjusts operation for 12VDC or 24VDC supplies without configuration.

Installation Notes

Plug-in connectors minimize back-box intrusion and eliminate common ground-fault sources. The universal mounting plate includes a shorting spring that checks wiring continuity before device installation — catch open or short circuits before power is applied. Rotary switches on the unit control horn tone selection and three volume settings, tuning output for the space without firmware changes or panel programming.
