Description

Middle Atlantic 5744S-2WH STL Deep Device Box 2-Gang White

Overview

The Middle Atlantic 5744S-2WH is a 2-gang deep switch and receptacle box fitting designed for integration with Middle Atlantic's 500 and 700 series steel raceway systems. At 2.38 inches (6.1 cm) deep, the 5744S-2WH accommodates standard decorator-style switches, duplex receptacles, and low-voltage devices that require more internal clearance than a standard shallow box — the depth matters when you're landing conduit connectors or accommodating larger outlet bodies behind the faceplate. The white finish matches coordinated raceway runs in finished interior spaces such as conference rooms, classrooms, or executive offices where exposed raceways must blend with wall surfaces. TAA compliant, making it suitable for government and federally contracted installations where Trade Agreements Act sourcing is required.

Compatibility

Designed specifically for use with Middle Atlantic 500 series and 700 series steel surface raceway systems. This box fitting mounts directly into the raceway channel and accepts standard 2-gang wallplate configurations. Compatible with decorator (Decora-style) switches, duplex receptacles, HDMI/USB low-voltage inserts, and similar devices that fit a 2-gang opening. Not intended for use with Middle Atlantic's plastic (Wiremold-style) raceway lines or PVC series — confirm your installed raceway series before ordering. The white colorway (WH suffix) pairs with the white-finish variants of the 500 and 700 series raceway and fittings family; ivory or gray raceway runs require a different color SKU.

Installation Notes

Depth of 2.38 inches provides adequate clearance for most standard wiring devices, but verify against your specific device body depth before rough-in — some GFCI outlets and smart switches with deeper rear profiles may be tight. Canadian Certified status is No; installations governed by CSA requirements should source an appropriately listed fitting.
