The STI-1200 is a flush-mount enclosure designed to house and protect access control devices in fire-rated applications. It uses a neoprene gasket seal to prevent water ingress, addressing a critical problem in wet or washdown environments where moisture buildup can corrode electronics. The housing accommodates a 24VDC-powered access control device and mounts directly to finished wall surfaces via a back box and machined cover assembly.
The STI-1200 works with 24VDC access control strike mechanisms and device assemblies that fit the STI 06297 series back box form factor. The cover assembly accepts a mounted device via two #6 x 5/8 in. tapping screws, making it compatible with standard electromagnetic or electromechanical strikes rated for 24VDC operation. Verify your device's mounting footprint matches the plate cutouts (described in installation documentation) before ordering.
The mounting procedure requires drilling four 1/4 in. (6.3 mm) holes into the wall surface and securing the back box with four #10 x 1-1/2 in. screws into plastic anchors provided. The cover assembly fastens to the back box using four #8-32 x 3/4 in. socket head screws with #8 flat washers. Critical for wet areas: STI recommends drilling two 1/8 in. (3 mm) weep holes in the bottom of the enclosure to prevent water accumulation inside the housing — this step is essential if the unit is installed in washdown or outdoor wet environments. Conduit and device wiring thread through the back box cutout. NEMA 3R rating means the enclosure handles rain and dust but is not submersible; install in covered areas or under soffits if exposed to direct spray.
