STI ED-50 Rex Plus Electronic Watchdog
Overview
The STI ED-50 is a motion-sensing electronic watchdog designed to deter unauthorized entry at doors and perimeters. Unlike traditional hardwired alarm sensors, the ED-50 detects movement through walls, doors, and glass using passive radar detection — meaning installation requires no drilling, wiring, or permanent mounting. Plug it into any standard 110 VAC outlet and it operates continuously as a perimeter deterrent without integration into a larger access control or alarm system. The unit fills a specific gap: cost-effective audio deterrence for secondary entry points (storage closets, mechanical rooms, back hallways) where a full camera or hardwired sensor is overkill.
Compatibility
The ED-50 is a standalone motion-triggered audio device — it does not integrate with access control panels, card readers, or network alarm systems. It works as an independent deterrent layer in facilities already using STI or third-party door control systems. Deploy it alongside existing electronic locks or strike hardware; it operates independently on 12VDC power from a standard wall outlet. No communication protocol, no credential management, no central integration.
Installation Notes
No installation required. Plug the ED-50 into a standard 110 VAC electrical outlet in the desired location. Adjust the sensitivity dial to control detection range (up to 30 feet) and volume control to set audio output level. The unit will begin detecting movement immediately. Select your audio deterrent: continuous rainforest ambience, ferocious barking (15–20 seconds), or escalating barking that increases in frequency as motion approaches. Placement behind doors, in hallways, or in blind spots maximizes deterrent value while minimizing false triggers from exterior movement.
