Overview

The Middle Atlantic 5-29 is a 29RU knockdown open-frame rack built for integrators who need a TAA-compliant, UL-listed enclosure solution with a shallow 20-inch usable depth. At 36 lbs unloaded and rated to 400 lbs UL load capacity, the 5-29 handles dense NVR, switch, and patch panel builds without requiring a full welded-frame footprint. The knockdown configuration ships flat and assembles on-site — useful in server closets, IDF/MDF rooms, or security head-end spaces where moving a pre-assembled frame through a doorway is impractical. Made in the USA and TAA-compliant, it satisfies federal procurement requirements without substitution.

Compatibility

Accepts any Middle Atlantic or third-party equipment built to the EIA-310 19-inch rack standard. The 10-32 threaded rail pattern is the most common in network video recorders, managed PoE switches, and patch panels — virtually all commercial security and IT gear fits without adapters. The 29RU usable height (50.75 in) accommodates a full NVR stack plus blanks, cable management, and a UPS in a single open rack enclosure. The gangable design lets you bolt multiple 5-series frames side by side for larger deployments. The 20-inch usable depth fits standard 1U/2U appliances; verify equipment depth before specifying — anything deeper than 18 inches of chassis plus cable bend radius will be tight at this depth.

Installation Notes

Knockdown assembly requires basic hand tools; no special tooling needed beyond a screwdriver. The 19.13-inch external width and 54.5-inch overall height are the governing dimensions for closet fit checks — confirm rough opening before delivery. At a shipping weight of 45.73 lbs, two-person handling is standard on stairs. Rail pattern is 10-32 threaded; use cage nuts only if adapting to square-hole equipment, but the 5-29 ships with threaded rails natively. Frame-only configuration — shelves, blanks, and rack accessories are ordered separately.
