The Signo line is HID's strategic reader platform — designed to consolidate the previous reader generations onto a single modern hardware base while supporting both legacy and modern credentials. A Signo deployment lets the customer carry mixed credentials (125 kHz Prox for legacy users, iClass or DESFire for current users, mobile credentials for executives and contractors) through one reader at every door. As the credential population modernizes, the readers do not need to change.
Plan the credential strategy before reader rollout — which credential technology will be the primary at each door, what the migration plan looks like for legacy credentials, and how mobile credentials will be enrolled and managed. Wire the reader for OSDP if the panel supports it; the OSDP secure channel resists the cloning and replay attacks that affect Wiegand. Configure the LED and beeper feedback for clear user experience. Test the reader at the actual installed distance with the credential the customer will use day-to-day.
