SDC EA-SN Door Prop Alarm
Overview
The SDC EA-SN is a single-gang door prop alarm designed to detect and annunciate unauthorized door-hold conditions in access control installations. Mounted in a standard electrical box, it triggers an 85dB piezo buzzer when a door remains propped open beyond a configurable timer interval, then resets via dry contact input. The unit operates on 12 or 24VDC, making it compatible with most commercial access control power supplies. Deploy this where building code or security policy requires active monitoring of emergency exits or restricted-access doors — loading docks, stairwells, server rooms, or secured corridors.
Compatibility
The EA-SN integrates with any access control system that provides dry trigger inputs and auxiliary power. Screw terminal wiring accepts either normally-closed (N/C) or normally-open (N/O) door-position signals, and the unit outputs a dry SPDT contact (2 Amp @ 30VDC resistive) for relay control or system notification. Functions as a standalone device or as part of a larger integrated security ecosystem — no dedicated controller required. Works with legacy and modern panels alike, provided they supply 12 or 24VDC and accept dry-contact trigger logic.
Installation Notes
Single-gang aluminum faceplate (1/4" thick, 628 Dull Aluminum finish with security screws) fits standard North American electrical boxes. Dimensions are 5" H × 3.25" W × 1.125" D. Wire trigger and reset inputs via screw terminals — no polarity requirement for dry inputs. Mount the device within line-of-sight or acoustic range of the protected opening; the 85dB siren carries well in typical commercial spaces but will not transmit through multiple walls. Verify your access control power supply delivers stable 12 or 24VDC (±10% tolerance) at sufficient current for piezo operation and relay coil energization.
