Description

SDC 801AL Aluminum Plate Keyswitch

Overview

The SDC 801AL is a 1/4" aluminum plate keyswitch designed for single-gang door control installations. It provides simple on-off switching via keyed activation—a straightforward alternative to card readers or keypads when you need manual control at a door station. The 6A SPDT (single-pole, double-throw) contact rating handles standard electromagnetic locks and door strike mechanisms. Mount it surface-style on aluminum or wood frames in indoor access control points where keyed manual operation is the control method.

Compatibility

The 801AL integrates into access control systems that accept multi-reader or discrete switch inputs. It works with door controllers and access panels that support SPDT relay closure or hardwired key-activated logic. If your system monitors reader status or expects credential data, this keyswitch is not the fit—it is a dumb mechanical contact closer, not a communicating reader. Confirm your access control panel or door controller supports direct switch wiring before specifying.

Installation Notes

The 1/4" aluminum plate is designed for flush or near-flush surface mounting on standard single-gang cutouts. Wiring is straightforward: connect the two contacts to the door strike or solenoid common and activation line. The 6A rating is sufficient for most 12V electromagnetic locks and 24V solenoid strikes; verify your lock's inrush current does not exceed 6A at the applied voltage. No power supply, no network cable, no configuration—just mechanical keyed switching.
