SDC 806ALN Key Switch Narrow Access Control Controller
Overview
The SDC 806ALN is a narrow-format access control controller designed for enterprise deployments where cabinet or panel space is constrained. It manages up to 63 doors and stores 250,000 user credentials, making it suitable for multi-building campuses, retrofit installations, and mid-to-large facilities that require centralized credential control without a full-size controller footprint. The narrow form factor solves the specific problem of integrating access control into existing electrical closets, equipment racks, or panel spaces too tight for standard-width controllers.
Compatibility
The 806ALN integrates with any access control system supporting OSDP (Open Supervised Device Protocol) and TCP/IP network architecture. It accepts readers across multiple credential technologies: DESFire, MIFARE, NFC/13.56MHz, and 125kHz proximity — so you can mix reader types across your facility and upgrade readers independently without replacing the controller. Works with enterprise access control platforms that comply with OSDP standards for reader communication. Suitable for security integrators managing retrofits where reader hardware diversity is already present.
Installation Notes
Verify your access control system sends OSDP traffic over TCP/IP before installation — the 806ALN does not support legacy Wiegand or serial protocols. Network connectivity must be present at the controller location; isolated offline operation is not supported. Confirm your existing readers output OSDP before deployment — readers using proprietary protocols require replacement or a protocol adapter. Space requirement is approximately 1/3 the width of a standard access control panel, but interior wiring density remains the same — allow adequate back-panel clearance for DIN rail terminal blocks and credential database backups.
