Overview

The SDC 7000-DGK is a laser-guided drill fixture kit designed to enable accurate wire raceway drilling through solid and particle-filled wood doors without removing the door from the frame. This tool addresses a core installation friction point: drilling door-core holes for electrified locksets, exit devices, and electric hinges requires precision alignment, and measurement errors force costly rework. The 7000-DGK solves this by using laser guidance to ensure repeatable hole placement, allowing installers to work from the hinge side safely and efficiently — a critical requirement in high-density access control deployments where door-by-door consistency matters.

Compatibility

The 7000-DGK is compatible with SDC electrified door hardware installations, including electrified locksets, exit devices with electric strike integration, and electric hinge systems. The fixture supports installation workflows across multi-door access control environments where repeatable, accurate hole positioning reduces field rework and accelerates commissioning timelines.

Installation Notes

The kit includes a custom-designed 3/8" x 50" evacuation drill bit with extended flutes (1 foot extra length) — this longer flute design reduces binding and material blockage when drilling through door cores. A 1/4" x 6" pilot drill bit is provided for initial hole location verification. The laser guidance mechanism operates without requiring door removal, and the included door wedge stabilizes the door during drilling. Fiberglass wire running kit components (brass hook end for pulling, brass eye end for pushing, and flexible acrylic end connection) handle post-drilling wire routing. No power source required — manual drilling operation only.
