Overview

The P50446-B21 is a factory-new HPE-kitted 32GB DDR5 RDIMM sourced from Samsung, running at PC5-4800B-R (DDR5-4800) with a 2Rx8 (dual-rank, x8 organization) configuration. This is an HPE server memory kit — meaning it ships with HPE part validation and is intended for direct slot population in compatible Gen11 and Gen10 Plus HPE ProLiant and Synergy servers. DDR5-4800 delivers roughly double the bandwidth of DDR4-3200, which matters in workloads that are memory-bandwidth-bound: database in-memory processing, virtualization hosts with high vCPU density, and AI inferencing on CPU. The 2Rx8 topology gives you full 32GB per DIMM slot without requiring x4 die density — useful when balancing slot count against capacity headroom in a partially populated chassis.

Compatibility

This DIMM is validated for HPE Gen11 servers that support DDR5 RDIMM population, including the ProLiant DL360 Gen11, DL380 Gen11, ML350 Gen11, and Synergy 480 Gen11 compute modules. Confirm your server's memory configuration guide before ordering — HPE Gen11 platforms enforce specific population rules (channels per processor, ranks per channel) that affect whether 2Rx8 or 1Rx8 DIMMs are preferred at a given capacity point. This kit is not compatible with Gen10 or earlier HPE platforms, which use DDR4. Mixed-rank population across a memory channel is not supported on these platforms.

Installation Notes

Follow HPE's published DIMM population order for your specific server — incorrect slot sequencing can result in the platform running in degraded memory mode or failing POST. DDR5 RDIMMs require no separate power connector but do require the platform's on-board power management IC to be Gen11-generation. Handle by the edges; ESD precautions apply. Confirm BIOS/iLO firmware is at the minimum supported revision for DDR5-4800 before seating new DIMMs.
