Kantech KT-BATT-1212 12V 12Ah Rechargeable Battery
Overview
The KT-BATT-1212 is a 12V 12Ah rechargeable battery designed to supply backup power to Kantech access control panels and readers during utility outages. The 12Ah capacity (144 watt-hours total) supports extended runtime for mid-sized deployments—typically 4 to 8 hours of standby operation depending on load draw—keeping door locks, readers, and control logic online when grid power fails. This is the standard backup choice for Kantech KT-4 controllers and compatible reader systems.
Compatibility
The KT-BATT-1212 integrates with the Kantech KT-4 encrypted 4-door controller and works across Kantech's access control panel ecosystem. It supplies 12VDC output to match the input requirements of KT-4 systems, ioProx XSF readers, ioSmart readers, and associated relay/lock hardware. If you are deploying a KT-4 with standard Kantech readers (proximity, smart card, or keypad-based) in standalone mode or integrated with EntraPass security management software, this battery fits the power architecture.
Installation Notes
Connect the KT-BATT-1212 to the designated 12VDC backup input on the KT-4 controller or power distribution module. Ensure the charger module is properly configured to maintain float charge during normal operation—the battery will trickle-charge when line power is present. Install in a clean, temperature-controlled environment (typical 32–104°F operating range for lead-acid or sealed lithium designs). Verify polarity before connection to avoid reverse-current damage. No external tools are required for connection.
