Overview

The Add-On SFP-17AH-AO is a Small Form-factor Pluggable (SFP) transceiver designed to extend network connectivity over single-mode fiber. It provides a 1Gbps Ethernet link up to 10 kilometers, utilizing an LC connector. This module is critical for bridging network segments in environments where standard copper Ethernet cable lengths are insufficient, such as large facilities or campus networks requiring reliable data transmission for surveillance systems.

Compatibility

This transceiver is compatible with any network device featuring an SFP port that adheres to the SFP Multi-Source Agreement (MSA). This includes a wide range of managed switches, routers, and media converters from various manufacturers. Specifically, it is designed for use with devices supporting 1000BASE-BX standards, enabling bidirectional communication over a single strand of single-mode fiber, provided the connected device also supports the complementary BX standard (e.g., SFP-17AH-AO on one end and a compatible BXD module on the other).

Installation Notes

Ensure the SFP port on your network device is clean and free of debris before insertion. The SFP-17AH-AO requires a complementary SFP module on the other end of the fiber link, operating on the opposite wavelength (e.g., one module transmits on 1310nm and receives on 1550nm, while the other transmits on 1550nm and receives on 1310nm) to establish a connection. Verify the fiber optic cable type is single-mode (SMF) and the connector type is LC. Maximum transmission distance is 10km.
