Overview

The PUR2001C is a genuine Brother replacement pick-up roller engineered to restore consistent automatic document feeder performance in Brother ADS-series compact scanners. When feed errors, multi-feeds, or paper jams increase in frequency, the pick-up roller is typically the first wear component to address — a worn roller loses grip on paper and fails to pull sheets cleanly into the feed path. Swapping in the Brother PUR2001C resets that wear point and gets the ADF feeding reliably again, rated to approximately 100,000 pages per roller. Installing a genuine part matters here: the roller durometer and surface texture are matched to the ADF mechanism tolerances, so off-spec third-party rollers often reproduce the same feed inconsistency you were trying to eliminate.

Installation Notes

The PUR2001C is a tool-free replacement on all compatible ADS-1x00-series models. Open the ADF cover, release the roller retention tab, swap the roller cartridge, and close. Brother's service documentation recommends replacing the pick-up roller and separation pad together at the same interval to maintain matched grip characteristics — if the separation pad is at or near its wear limit, replace both in the same service event to avoid a second disassembly shortly after.
