Overview

The Panduit FW2RLU1U1ONM2.5 is a 2-fiber OM5 wideband multimode patch cable from the QuickNet™ pre-terminated cabling system, built for data centers and telecom rooms where structured fiber infrastructure needs to go live fast. OM5 wideband multimode (50/125µm) supports shortwave wavelength division multiplexing (SWDM), enabling higher-speed transmission over existing multimode infrastructure — a meaningful advantage when migrating toward 40G or 100G without ripping and replacing runs. The LC uniboot form factor combines both fibers in a single connector housing, which keeps port density manageable in high-count patch panels and reduces cable congestion at switch faces — both legitimate concerns in packed equipment distribution areas.

Compatibility

Designed for use with Panduit QuickNet™ fiber enclosures, patch panels, and cassette modules that accept LC duplex terminations. Compatible with any 50/125µm OM5-rated active equipment port using LC duplex connectors, including transceivers from Cisco, Arista, Juniper, and similar platforms operating at 10G, 25G, 40G, and 100G over OM5-specified distances. Backward compatible with OM3 and OM4 infrastructure at those standards' rated distances. Meets TIA-568.3-D, ISO/IEC 11801, and ANSI/TIA-942-B — the three standards most commonly specified in enterprise and colocation data center structured cabling designs. Suitable for deployment in entrance facilities, telecom rooms, and equipment distribution areas per ANSI/TIA-942-B zone classifications.

Installation Notes

LSZH (Low Smoke Zero Halogen) jacket is required in plenum or enclosed spaces with limited ventilation — complies with environments where PVC jacket outgassing is a life-safety concern, such as European installations and domestic facilities with LSZH specifications. The uniboot connector requires proper polarity management: confirm the duplex fiber pair polarity matches the switch and panel port assignments before patching. Pre-terminated factory ends eliminate field-polishing variables, but inspect the PC-polished ferrule faces before installation in dirty or dusty conditions — ferrule contamination is the leading cause of multimode insertion-loss failures. Minimum bend radius must be observed at rack edges; do not over-tighten cable management rings against the uniboot connector housing.
