Description

Panduit FW2RLU1U1ONM042 OM5 LC Duplex 42m LSZH Fiber Patch Cable

Overview

The Panduit FW2RLU1U1ONM042 is a 42-meter (137.8 ft), 2-fiber OM5 wideband multimode patch cable terminated with LC Uniboot/LC Uniboot duplex connectors and jacketed in Low Smoke Zero Halogen (LSZH) material. OM5 wideband multimode fiber (50/125µm) is specified for shortwave wavelength division multiplexing (SWDM) applications — meaning you can push parallel 40G or 100G lanes over a single fiber run that would otherwise require multiple conventional OM4 cables. At 42 meters this cable fits structured cabling runs between patch panels, switches, and servers inside fiber optic backbone segments in data centers, telecommunications rooms, entrance facilities, and equipment distribution areas. Pre-terminated and factory-tested, the FW2RLU1U1ONM042 eliminates field termination and the insertion-loss uncertainty that comes with it — drop it in and verify, no polishing required. The Uniboot connector design consolidates both fibers into a single, compact boot, which reduces pathway congestion and simplifies polarity management in high-density patch fields. Meets TIA-568.3-D, ISO/IEC 11801, and ANSI/TIA-942-B, covering both enterprise and data center infrastructure environments.

Compatibility

LC Duplex connectors are the dominant interface on enterprise-grade transceivers and patch panels — this cable mates directly with SFP+, SFP28, and QSFP breakout panels using LC ports from manufacturers including Cisco, Juniper, Arista, and HPE. OM5 backward compatibility means this cable will operate with legacy OM3 and OM4 transceivers at reduced distance headroom, though it is optimized for SWDM4 transceivers targeting 40GBASE-SW and 100GBASE-SW. It is part of Panduit's QuickNet™ pre-terminated fiber system, designed to integrate with QuickNet cassettes, patch panels, and trunk cable assemblies for modular structured cabling builds. LSZH jacket satisfies plenum and riser fire-code requirements in markets where halogen emission limits apply (EU, UK, and many Asian markets); verify local code before substituting a PVC-jacketed alternative.

Installation Notes

At 42 meters this is a relatively long patch assembly — route with bend-radius management (minimum bend radius applies under tensile load; do not kink at rack entry). The Uniboot form factor requires attention to polarity: confirm A-to-B or A-to-A polarity configuration against your panel scheme before installing at scale. LSZH jacket is stiffer than PVC in cold environments; allow cable to acclimate before dressing in tight pathways below 10°C.
