Description

Middle Atlantic M-2GFI Multiplex Dual GFI Plate

Overview

The Middle Atlantic M-2GFI is a dual ground-fault interrupter outlet plate designed for integration into Middle Atlantic Multiplex power distribution and rack enclosure systems. GFI protection trips the circuit on ground-fault current — typically within milliseconds — making this plate the right choice for rack installations where personnel contact with energized components is a risk factor, or where local electrical codes require ground-fault protection on convenience outlets. The M-2GFI replaces a standard blank or single-outlet plate in compatible Multiplex frames, adding two protected outlets without requiring a separate GFI receptacle wired outside the rack.

Compatibility

The M-2GFI is designed for use with Middle Atlantic Multiplex power distribution enclosures and Multiplex-series rack panels that accept modular outlet plates. Verify your Multiplex frame accepts the standard Middle Atlantic plate form factor before ordering — not all Middle Atlantic rack accessories share the same plate dimensions. This plate is not a standalone power distribution unit and requires an installed Multiplex host frame to function. For broader rack power planning, review rack power distribution options to confirm the host unit's load capacity accommodates the additional outlets.

Installation Notes

Snap or fasten the M-2GFI plate into the Multiplex frame's outlet plate slot per the host unit's installation guide. Ensure the host circuit supplying the Multiplex unit is rated for the combined load — adding two GFI outlets does not increase the upstream circuit capacity. Test the GFI trip and reset function after installation using the TEST and RESET buttons on the face of the plate before commissioning the rack. Confirm local electrical code requirements for GFI placement in your jurisdiction, particularly in AV equipment rooms, server rooms, or any location classified as a wet or damp environment.
