At 3 meters, it provides enough slack for adjacent rack-unit installations without coiling excess cable through the rack.

Note: if your host HBA or enclosure uses SFF-8644 on both ends, the QNAP accessories line includes the CAB-SAS30M-8644 variant (SFF-8644 to SFF-8644, also 3M). Confirm which SFF standard your enclosure's rear panel uses before ordering — SFF-8088 and SFF-8644 are not interchangeable.
Route the cable along the rear of the rack before securing enclosures to their final rack positions — the 3M length does not allow repositioning once both ends are seated and enclosures are pushed in. SFF-8088 connectors use a latch-lock mechanism; seat fully until the latch clicks. SFF-8644 connectors are tool-free friction-lock; verify seating by gently pulling back after insertion. Do not bend the cable sharply within 10cm of either connector end, as internal signal pairs in Mini SAS cables are susceptible to impedance shifts at tight bend radii.
