Description

Lenovo 7M27A03917 ThinkSystem RAID 930-4i 2GB 2-Drive Adapter Kit

Overview

The Lenovo 7M27A03917 is a Lenovo ThinkSystem RAID 930-4i 2GB Flash adapter kit configured specifically for dual-drive installations in the SN550 blade server. It pairs the RAID 930-4i controller — a 12Gb/s SAS/SATA adapter with a 2GB flash-backed write cache — with the mounting hardware needed to seat two storage drives inside the SN550 blade chassis. The 2GB write cache accelerates sequential and random write workloads, reducing latency on database and virtualization storage without requiring a dedicated external storage array. If you are expanding or initially configuring storage inside an SN550 node, this kit delivers the controller and mechanical components in a single part number rather than sourcing them separately.

Compatibility

Designed exclusively for the Lenovo ThinkSystem SN550 blade server (Machine Types 7X16 and 7X17). The RAID 930-4i controller within this kit supports up to four internal SAS/SATA drives at 12Gb/s per port and is not interchangeable with SN850, SD530, or tower-form ThinkSystem platforms without separate qualification. Verify your SN550 firmware level against Lenovo's UpdateXpress compatibility matrix before installation — the 930-series controller requires minimum UEFI and BMC firmware revisions to initialize correctly. This kit is not compatible with NVMe-only backplane configurations.

Installation Notes

Installation is performed inside the SN550 blade with the node removed from the chassis and powered off. The adapter kit includes the drive carrier hardware for two drives; confirm your target drive form factor (2.5-inch SAS/SATA) matches the SN550 backplane in use. Lenovo recommends using the Chassis Management Module (CMM) to validate controller discovery after reinsertion. Weight of the complete kit is 2.00 lb. Country of origin: Mexico.
