Description

Lenovo 4X97B08948 SR630 V4 X16 Gen5 Front Riser 3 Low-Profile Kit

Overview

The Lenovo 4X97B08948 is a front riser card kit designed for the ThinkSystem SR630 V4 server, providing an x16 PCIe Gen 5 slot in the front riser 3 position with low-profile card support. If your SR630 V4 deployment requires an additional front-facing PCIe expansion slot — for a network adapter, storage controller, or other low-profile add-in card — this kit supplies the mechanical and electrical riser assembly to make that slot available. Without it, the front riser 3 slot position is simply unpopulated and inaccessible. At 10 lb, the 4X97B08948 includes the structural riser cage and PCIe connector assembly needed to complete the configuration.

Compatibility

This kit is engineered specifically for the Lenovo ThinkSystem SR630 V4 1U rack server. It is not interchangeable with SR630 V2 or V3 variants, nor with other SR-series platforms such as the SR650 or SR860 — PCIe generation, riser slot geometry, and chassis mechanical attachment points differ across generations. Confirm your chassis is the SR630 V4 before ordering. The x16 Gen 5 interface is compatible with PCIe Gen 5, Gen 4, and Gen 3 low-profile add-in cards (backward compatible by PCIe specification), so existing Gen 4 NICs or HBAs will seat and operate correctly, though at Gen 4 speeds. Pair this riser with a compatible rack server accessory or expansion card appropriate for your workload. If your deployment involves GPU or full-height card requirements, a different riser option is needed — this kit supports low-profile form factor only.

Installation Notes

Installation is performed with the server powered down and removed from the rack per Lenovo service documentation. The riser assembly mounts into the designated front riser 3 bay; consult the SR630 V4 Hardware Maintenance Guide for torque specifications, connector seating confirmation, and any firmware recognition steps required after physical installation. Country of origin is Mexico.
