The Lenovo 4M17A61349 is a replacement air duct kit (Version 2) for the ThinkSystem SR570 rack server. Air ducts in 1U/2U servers are not optional hardware — they channel forced airflow from front intake fans directly over processor and memory components, preventing recirculation of exhaust heat back into the thermal path. A missing or damaged duct raises component temperatures, triggers fan speed increases, and can cause thermal throttling on compute-intensive workloads. Installing the 4M17A61349 restores the factory airflow geometry when the original duct is removed during a major hardware service (CPU swap, riser card work, or DIMM population changes) and not reinstalled.
Designed specifically for the Lenovo ThinkSystem SR570 (Types 7Y02, 7Y03) rack server. The V2 designation indicates this kit is matched to the second-generation chassis revision of the SR570 — verify your system type label before ordering, as V1 and V2 ducts are not interchangeable within the SR570 platform. Not compatible with other ThinkSystem models (SR530, SR550, SR590, SR630, or SR650) — those platforms use separate, model-specific duct assemblies.
Installation is tool-free: the duct clips into the chassis guide rails above the DIMM slots and locks without fasteners. Ensure all drive bays and expansion slots are populated with blanks before reinstalling the duct — open bays create pressure bypass paths that defeat the duct's thermal function even when the duct itself is correctly seated. After reinstalling, verify fan speeds return to normal operating range in the XClarity Controller (XCC) dashboard; sustained high fan RPM after duct reinstall indicates a seating problem or a remaining airflow obstruction.
