Compatibility

Designed exclusively for the Lenovo ThinkSystem SR850 V2 platform across three machine types: 7D31 (1-year warranty baseline), 7D32 (3-year warranty standard configurations including SAP HANA-adjacent builds), and 7D33 (SAP HANA configurations with 3-year warranty). The SR850 V2 uses the Intel C621A 'Lewisburg' chipset on the Cedar Island platform. Compatible processors in the 2-socket configuration include Intel Xeon Gold 5318H (18-core), 5320H (20-core), 6330H (24-core), and Platinum 8354H (18-core) among others. In 2-socket mode, the 24 DIMM slots support standard DDR4 ECC memory with SDDC and ADDDC protection for x4-based DIMMs, plus memory mirroring — giving you hardware-level redundancy without a separate controller. Persistent memory modules are also supported; keep ambient temperature at or below 27°C when PMem is installed to avoid thermal throttling. Storage in this configuration can reach up to 737.28TB using 24x 30.72TB 2.5-inch SAS/SATA SSDs, or mixed NVMe/SSD/HDD topologies are supported. Up to 2x single-wide GPUs can be added. Hot-swap drives, fans, and power supplies are all supported in this chassis layout.

Installation Notes

This is a CTO (Configure-To-Order) option specified at the time of system ordering — it is not a field-installable standalone component. Confirm chassis compatibility using feature code BAVY within Lenovo's configuration tooling before ordering. The SR850 V2 chassis (feature codes BCPH or BN19) must be selected alongside this socket configuration. No internal optical or tape drive bays are present in the SR850 V2, so plan external or network-based media access accordingly.
