The Allied Telesis AT-GS970M/10-10 is an 8-port L2+ managed gigabit switch with two SFP uplink slots and a fixed AC power supply. It targets small-to-mid commercial deployments — branch office closets, edge distribution layers, and security network segments — where managed switching with fiber uplink capability is needed without the overhead of a full L3 platform. The AT-GS970M/10-10 provides 10/100/1000 Mbps auto-negotiation on all eight copper ports, giving you flexibility to mix legacy 100Mbps endpoints with full-gigabit devices on the same switch without manual speed configuration. The two SFP slots support fiber or copper SFP modules for uplinks to an aggregation switch or fiber backbone — useful when the IDF is more than 100 meters from the MDF, where copper runs out of range.
The AT-GS970M/10-10 is part of the Allied Telesis GS970M series and accepts standard small form-factor pluggable (SFP) transceivers. It integrates with Allied Telesis Vista Manager EX and Allied Telesis Management Framework (AMF) for centralized management alongside other AMF-compatible Allied Telesis network switches. The eight copper ports are compatible with any 10/100/1000BASE-T endpoint — IP cameras, access control panels, VoIP phones, wireless APs. For environments running PoE-dependent devices such as IP cameras or intercoms, note that this model does not include a PoE budget — pair it with a PoE injector or a PoE-capable upstream switch if your endpoints require powered connectivity. The SFP uplink ports accept Allied Telesis SFP modules and are generally compatible with third-party SFP transceivers conforming to the SFP MSA standard, though Allied Telesis modules are recommended for guaranteed interoperability.
The fixed AC power supply eliminates the need for an external PSU or redundant power planning at install time — verify the local outlet voltage matches the unit's supply spec before racking. The switch is designed for desktop or rack-mount deployment; confirm rack-mount bracket availability separately if 19-inch rail installation is required. For managed switch deployments in security networks, plan VLAN segmentation at commissioning to isolate camera traffic from corporate LAN — the L2+ feature set supports 802.1Q VLANs and QoS prioritization, which helps maintain video stream integrity when the switch is shared across IP cameras and other traffic types.
