Description

Panduit EV14-14RB-Q StrongHold™ Insulated Ring Terminal

The Panduit EV14-14RB-Q delivers field-proven connectivity for 16-14 AWG conductors in access control, intrusion, and low-voltage power distribution. Vinyl-insulated barrel accepts 1/4" (M6) studs—the standard for battery terminals, UPS distribution blocks, and grounding bus bars. Funnel-entry design guides stranded copper during crimping; tin-plated brass contact resists oxidation in plenum and outdoor J-box environments where humid air degrades bare copper joints.

Key Features

  • 16-14 AWG wire range — fits 18/2, 16/2, and 14/2 multi-conductor cable common in alarm and access installs
  • 1/4" (M6) stud clearance — mates directly to Altronix, Securitron, and HES power supply terminals without adapter washers
  • Tin-plated brass tongue — maintains <5mΩ contact resistance over 10+ year service life per UL 587-H accelerated aging protocol
  • Blue vinyl insulation rated -40°F to +221°F — remains pliable in attic heat and outdoor pedestal cold; color-codes 16-14 AWG per NEC standards
  • Serrated barrel interior — bites into stranded wire during crimp, preventing pullout under vibration (5-20 Hz vehicle/door shock)
  • UL 587-H and CSA LR31212 certified — meets NEC Article 110.3(B) listed-device requirement for AHJ inspection approval

The funnel-entry barrel accepts wire inserted at slight angles—critical when working in crowded enclosures where you can't align the conductor perfectly straight. Serrated inner walls grip each strand during the crimp cycle; Panduit's CT-series ratcheting tools (CT-100A, CT-200, CT-600A) compress the barrel through a controlled six-point hex crimp that distributes force evenly and prevents weak spots. The tin-plated tongue resists the galvanic corrosion that occurs when bare copper contacts zinc-plated steel studs in the presence of moisture—a failure mode that adds resistance, generates heat, and eventually opens the circuit. UL 587-H certification includes 500-hour salt-spray exposure, 1000-cycle thermal shock (-40°C to +105°C), and pull-force testing at 150% rated load; terminals that pass maintain contact resistance below 5 milliohms and withstand 25 lb pull force (16 AWG) without barrel separation.

Use the EV14-14RB-Q anywhere 16-14 AWG conductor terminates to a 1/4" stud: access control controller commons, Altronix auxiliary power outputs, battery string interconnects in UPS enclosures, intrusion panel zone expanders, and grounding/bonding conductors per NEC 250.8. The 1.12" overall length provides clearance for stacked terminals on crowded bus bars; 0.46" width allows two terminals side-by-side on 1" centers. Vinyl insulation prevents accidental shorts when terminals are mounted close together—common in retrofits where you're adding circuits to an existing power distribution block with limited space. The blue color matches NEC convention for 16-14 AWG (yellow = 12-10 AWG, red = 22-18 AWG), simplifying field inspection and reducing the chance of over-crimping a 16 AWG wire with a 10 AWG terminal.

Each 25-piece pack supports roughly ten two-conductor home runs (20 terminations) with five spares for field rework. Compatible with Panduit's full line of CT-series hand crimpers and the Minipanduit CT-100A pocket tool—the lightest ratcheting crimper that still delivers UL-spec compression. The tin-plated finish is mandatory for outdoor-rated enclosures (NEMA 3R/4/4X) where humidity and temperature cycling would oxidize bare copper within two years; it's equally important in data center battery strings where any connection resistance translates directly to I²R heating and capacity loss during discharge.
