Description

HPE Q2078AB LTO-8 RW NO Case Pallet 960 Crtg Concise Descriptor

Overview

The HPE Q2078AB is a bulk pallet of 960 LTO-8 Ultrium RW (Read/Write) data cartridges designed for high-density, long-term archival storage. This configuration is intended for environments with massive data retention requirements, such as large-scale surveillance archives, scientific research data, or financial records, where managing thousands of tapes efficiently is critical. The absence of individual cases streamlines handling and reduces waste in high-volume deployment scenarios.

Compatibility

This HPE Q2078AB LTO-8 cartridge is compatible with any LTO-8 Ultrium tape drive, including those from HPE (e.g., MSL3040, MSL6480, EB667A, EH957B, EH958B), IBM, Quantum, Dell EMC, and others that support the LTO-8 standard. It is also backward read-compatible with LTO-7 drives, though write functionality is limited to LTO-8 drives. Ensure your tape library or drive firmware is updated to the latest version for optimal performance and compatibility.

Installation Notes

Handle LTO cartridges with care, avoiding direct sunlight, extreme temperatures, and high humidity. Store cartridges in their original protective cases or a climate-controlled environment when not in use. For bulk pallet handling, ensure proper lifting equipment is available to prevent damage to the cartridges or the pallet itself. Each cartridge has a unique barcode for automated library identification.
