Description

HPE 872338-B21 DL580 Gen10 8-Slot 2P Slim Riser Kit

Overview

The 872338-B21 is an 8-slot dual-processor slim riser kit designed specifically for the HPE ProLiant DL580 Gen10 server platform. It expands PCIe slot availability in dense 4-socket configurations where the base riser count falls short of workload requirements — adding I/O capacity for additional HBAs, network adapters, or GPU accelerators without replatforming. At 7.15 lb and 10.00 x 6.50 x 13.00 inches, this is a full-size internal riser assembly, not a low-profile bracket, so confirm chassis bay clearance before ordering.

Compatibility

Designed exclusively for the HPE ProLiant DL580 Gen10 platform. This kit is not compatible with Gen9 or earlier DL580 revisions, nor with any other ProLiant family. The 2P (dual-processor) designation means it requires a two-processor configuration to be active — single-socket DL580 builds will not utilize both riser segments. Before purchasing, verify your chassis sub-bay assignment against the DL580 Gen10 server component configuration guide; HPE uses multiple riser option kits for this platform and each occupies a specific mechanical position. Mixing incompatible riser kits in adjacent bays can block airflow paths or conflict with cable routing.

Installation Notes

Installation requires partial disassembly of the DL580 Gen10 chassis — remove the access panel and identify the designated slim riser bay per HPE's service documentation before seating the assembly. The 7.15 lb weight means single-person installation is feasible but a second handler is advisable given the chassis depth. Confirm all PCIe cards intended for this riser are rated for slim form factor; full-height/full-length cards are not compatible with slim riser configurations. Country of origin is CN.
