Description

HPE P48802-B21 2U Secondary PCIe Riser Kit for ProLiant DL380 Gen11

Overview

The HPE P48802-B21 is a secondary riser kit designed for the ProLiant DL380 Gen11 2U rack server, providing an X8/X16/X8 PCIe slot configuration that expands the server's I/O capacity beyond its base riser complement. If your DL380 Gen11 deployment requires additional PCIe cards — whether GPU accelerators, HBAs, NVMe adapters, or network controllers — and the primary riser is already occupied, the P48802-B21 is the correct expansion path. Installing this kit into the secondary riser bay gives you three additional PCIe slots (one x16 and two x8 electrical) without chassis modification, keeping the build within HPE's validated hardware stack.

Compatibility

The P48802-B21 is engineered specifically for the HPE ProLiant DL380 Gen11 (2U) platform. It is not interchangeable with Gen10, Gen10 Plus, or DL360 chassis — HPE riser kits are generation- and model-specific due to differing backplane connectors and mechanical keep-outs. Before ordering, confirm your server's secondary riser bay is unpopulated; DL380 Gen11 configurations with the secondary bay already provisioned do not require this kit. Pair with compatible server expansion accessories and verify PCIe card power and slot bandwidth requirements against your specific DL380 Gen11 build to avoid slot mismatch at commissioning.

Installation Notes

The riser kit ships as a bracket-and-connector assembly at 2.21 lb and measures 15.40 × 11.00 × 4.50 in — sized to fit the DL380 Gen11 secondary bay without tools beyond a standard Torx driver set. Seat the riser board fully onto the system board connector before securing the retention bracket; partial seating is the most common cause of POST errors on riser expansion. Country of origin is Brazil (BR). Consult the HPE DL380 Gen11 Maintenance and Service Guide for torque specifications and ESD handling requirements prior to installation.
