Description

HPE R8Q67A Aruba CX 6200M 24-Port GbE PoE Access Switch

Overview

The HPE Aruba CX 6200M (R8Q67A) is a 1U access-layer switch built for mid-to-large deployments where PoE budget and uplink density both matter. It delivers 24x 10/100/1000BASE-T PoE ports backed by up to 1440W of total PoE capacity — enough headroom to power 24 high-draw devices simultaneously without throttling — and four 10G SFP+ uplinks for clean aggregation to a distribution layer. A 128 Gbps switching fabric with 95.2 Mpps forwarding rate means the backplane won't be the bottleneck in a densely loaded floor-access scenario. Latency at 1 Gbps runs 2.28 µs; at 10 Gbps, 1.46 µs — low enough for latency-sensitive voice, video, and access-control traffic on the same switch. The Quad Core ARM Cortex A72 processor at 1.8 GHz runs ArubaOS-CX, enabling per-port telemetry, programmable pipeline features, and VSF stacking of up to 8 units for a single logical management plane across the access tier. Power draw peaks at 75W (excluding PoE load) at 230 VAC, compatible with standard 100–240V rack PDUs.

Compatibility

Designed for the HPE Aruba networking ecosystem and integrates directly into enterprise access-layer switch architectures running ArubaOS-CX. The four 10G SFP+ uplinks are standard MSA-compliant slots — compatible with HPE Aruba SFP+ transceivers and most third-party 10GBASE-SR, 10GBASE-LR, and DAC modules. VSF stacking links over standard SFP+ ports, so no proprietary stacking cable is required. Pairs naturally with HPE Aruba CX 6300 or 6400 series distribution switches for a consistent ArubaOS-CX management stack. The 1440W PoE budget supports a full floor of PoE IP cameras, VoIP phones, wireless APs, and access control readers — refer to a PoE budget planning guide before finalizing port assignments on high-draw devices like 802.3bt Class 6 cameras. For stacking topologies, plan cabling prior to rack installation — VSF requires SFP+ inter-switch links, which consume uplink ports.

Installation Notes

Standard 1U rack-mount form factor at 1.73 x 17.42 x 15.11 in; verify rack depth clearance, particularly with rear-cable management arms in place — 15.11 in chassis depth is moderate but account for SFP+ cable bend radius at the rear. Unit weighs 10.00 lbs unloaded; use two-person lift procedures in overhead-rack scenarios. Input voltage auto-ranging (100–120V / 200–240V) — no manual voltage selection required. Lifetime manufacturer warranty applies to this model.
