Overview

The Honeywell TUXEDOW is a 7-inch color touchscreen security and smart home controller that integrates alarm system control with Z-Wave automation. It replaces or upgrades existing keypads (6160, 6280 series) while adding control over thermostats, lights, locks, garage doors, shades, and water shutoff devices. The thin profile (less than one inch off the wall) and high-resolution display fit standard residential and light commercial installations where you need a single control point for security and home automation.

Compatibility

The TUXEDOW integrates with Honeywell security panels as a Z-Wave 500 series controller. It supports up to 232 Z-Wave devices and works as a drop-in replacement for the 6160 and 6280 keypads, using the same backplate. Confirm your panel supports Z-Wave integration before deployment — older systems may require firmware updates or gateway modules.

Installation Notes

Mount using the standard backplate and brackets compatible with 6160/6280 installations. The unit requires WiFi connectivity for remote software updates and dealer messaging features; if WiFi is unavailable, updates can be pushed via SD card slot. Verify WiFi signal strength at the mounting location, as dropped connections may affect cloud-based features and emergency notifications. The touchscreen and voice annunciation require power from the security panel wiring — confirm your panel supplies adequate current to the keypad circuit before installation.
