Geovision GV-DATA-55 POS Data Capture Module
Overview
The GV-DATA-55 is a compact data-capture bridge that synchronizes point-of-sale transaction data with video recording on Geovision DVR systems. It accepts RS-232 or parallel input from POS terminals, ATM machines, or cashier systems, and overlays transaction text directly onto live or recorded video frames — solving the critical problem of linking transaction context to surveillance footage during loss investigations. This is the V3E variant with built-in Ethernet connectivity, eliminating external adapters and reducing deployment complexity in retail, hospitality, and service environments.
Compatibility
The GV-DATA-55 integrates with Geovision DVR systems via RS-232 serial connection (to DVR output) or Ethernet (RJ-45, V3E model only) at speeds up to 115,200 bps over serial or 10/100 Mbps over network. It accepts POS input through multiple connector options: DB9 Female (RS-232), DB25 Male (parallel port), or DB25 Female (parallel output) — supporting legacy cashier systems, modern POS terminals, and ATM devices. Parallel printer output (DB25 Female or DB9 Male RS-232) is available for real-time transaction receipts. Geovision's GV-NET, GV-Hub, and GV-COM network modules communicate via RS-485 (600 bps–115,200 bps). Verify your DVR model supports the GV-Data Capture V3.1 integration protocol before purchase.
Installation Notes
The unit operates in environments from 0–50°C (32–122°F) and tolerates 5–95% non-condensing humidity. Dimensions are 161 × 34 × 123 mm (6.34 × 1.34 × 4.84 inches) — sized for discrete mounting behind POS counters or within cabinet installations. Power requirement is 5V DC @ 2A via included adapter. Route RS-232 cables directly from POS devices to the GV-DATA-55 input connectors, then from the DVR output to your Geovision recording system. Baud rates on both the POS input and DVR output must match — typically 9,600 or 19,200 bps for reliable data capture. Test transaction synchronization in your VMS before going live to confirm timestamp alignment.
