The Middle Atlantic FTA-3 is a 1RU active fan tray delivering 207 CFM of forced-air cooling across three fans — designed to purge heat from densely loaded 19-inch equipment racks before thermal buildup throttles or damages components. This is the unit to reach for when passive convection is no longer sufficient: amplifiers, managed switches, NVRs, and multi-channel power supplies running 24/7 generate sustained heat loads that ventilated rack panels alone cannot handle. The FTA-3 occupies a single rack unit at a standard 19-inch width, draws 120 VAC input, and converts internally to 12 VDC for the fan motors — no separate DC supply needed.

Compatibility

The FTA-3 fits any standard EIA 19-inch rack with four-point front mounting and accommodates rack depths from 18 to 32 inches (18 in minimum, 32 in maximum), covering the full range of Middle Atlantic rack enclosures including the ERK, BGR, and PTRK series, as well as third-party open-frame and enclosed rack cabinets within that depth range. It is not rated for international voltage (120 VAC only) — installations outside North America require a step-down transformer or a region-appropriate fan tray.
