ELK Products ELK-44 USB Security Controller
Overview
The ELK-44 is a compact USB-based controller designed for security monitoring and data acquisition in access control and sensor integration scenarios. It accepts 8–10V input power and communicates with host systems via USB Virtual Com Port (VCP) interface, eliminating the need for a separate serial adapter. The ELK-44 supports multi-channel sensor connectivity and is suitable for small-to-medium deployments where direct computer control and real-time data logging are required.
Compatibility
The ELK-44 integrates with any host system capable of recognizing a standard USB Virtual Com Port device — Windows, Linux, and macOS environments. It is compatible with ELK security system architectures and third-party access control software that supports serial-over-USB communication. The USB interface allows daisy-chaining of multiple multiplexer units across separate ports for expanded channel capacity.
Installation Notes
Power supply must deliver 8–10V DC at the designated input connector. A US/EU/AU power adapter is provided with standard kit configurations. USB cable connects directly to any available USB 2.0 or later port on the host computer. No additional drivers are required if the host system recognizes USB CDC (Communications Device Class) devices natively; Windows systems may require a VCP driver installation from the manufacturer. Mount the controller in an indoor, climate-controlled enclosure away from moisture and direct sunlight. Ensure cable runs are kept clear of high-voltage AC wiring to prevent EMI coupling.
