Overview

The DSC PG9920 is a wireless keypad designed to arm/disarm and control security systems without adding hardwired keypads to your installation. The 2.4-inch color touchscreen eliminates button-based interfaces—users see status displays, panic triggers, and PGM controls on a single readable surface. Operating from 0°C to 49°C (32°F to 120°F), it suits both climate-controlled offices and unheated entry vestibules. The rechargeable Li-ion battery delivers up to 2 years of standby runtime, meaning infrequent charging and no disposable battery waste on medium-traffic deployments.

Wireless Protocol and Security

The PG9920 uses DSC PowerG 915 MHz FHSS (Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum) with 128-bit AES encryption—standard for commercial wireless panels, so your arm/disarm commands and status messages are encrypted end-to-end. Wireless range reaches up to 2 km (6,500 ft) in open air, meaning you can deploy this in warehouses, campus buildings, or multi-building sites where hardwired keypads would require long cable runs. Periodic supervision check-in signals confirm the keypad is still paired to the control panel, so failed units don't go unnoticed.

Compatibility

The PG9920 integrates with DSC PowerG-compatible security control panels and third-party systems that support PowerG wireless protocols. Verify your panel's firmware version and wireless module specifications before ordering—not all DSC panels support wireless keypads out of the box. If your existing system uses hardwired keypads only, you may need a wireless receiver module installed in the control panel or a compatible gateway.

Installation Notes

Mount the unit on a wall or desk surface near user traffic. Front and rear tamper protection triggers an alarm signal if the keypad is removed or opened without authorization. Avoid metal enclosures, water tanks, and dense rebar—these block 915 MHz signals. Test range and signal strength after installation to confirm the control panel receives check-in signals consistently. Charge the battery fully before first deployment.
