Description

Middle Atlantic 880CS3-1 Deep 3-Gang Cast Iron Concrete Floor Box

Overview

The Middle Atlantic 880CS3-1 is a deep, 3-gang cast iron floor box from the Middle Atlantic OmniBox series, engineered for in-slab installation in concrete floors where low-voltage and power wiring needs to terminate at the floor level. At 14.63 inches deep, the 880CS3-1 accommodates concrete pours thick enough to bury standard conduit stub-ups — the extra depth is the spec that matters when your slab is deeper than a shallow-depth box can handle. The 3-gang configuration provides enough compartment width to land multiple circuit types (power, data, AV) in a single floor location without requiring adjacent boxes or surface raceways. Typical deployment scenarios include open-plan office floors, training rooms, boardrooms, and any floor box installation where aesthetics demand recessed terminations and the slab depth rules out low-profile hardware.

Compatibility

The 880CS3-1 is part of Middle Atlantic's 880CS-1 OmniBox series of cast iron concrete floor boxes. It accepts standard 3-gang cover plates and inserts designed for the 880CS series — verify insert compatibility against the OmniBox series lineup before ordering covers or device modules. The 5.38-inch width and 3.38-inch height conform to 3-gang rough-in dimensions standard across the series. Not designed for poke-through or raised-floor applications; this box requires a poured concrete or masonry substrate. Not TAA compliant — confirm procurement requirements before specifying on government contracts.

Installation Notes

Set depth is 14.63 inches — confirm your slab thickness exceeds this before pour. The cast iron body is intended to withstand concrete pour pressure; position and brace the box per local code before pour. Conduit entries and cover plate hardware are not included; source compatible 880CS series covers and inserts separately. Coordinate rough-in with the concrete contractor to ensure the box elevation matches finished floor level.
