The FPSS-SS addresses a specific installation problem: equipment inside a rack that needs localized AC surge protection at the faceplate level, without routing unprotected power through a separate strip or consuming a full rack unit. By mounting directly into a double-gang cutout, it keeps the front panel clean and protection close to the load.

Compatibility

The FPSS-SS is sized for standard double-gang faceplate openings found across Middle Atlantic's rack enclosures and furniture product lines, including the ERK, BGR, and PD-series enclosures that accept modular gang-plate inserts. Confirm your enclosure's faceplate opening accepts a standard double-gang insert before ordering — single-gang or custom-cutout panels are not compatible. This plate is intended for AC power applications only; it does not pass data signals or low-voltage control wiring.

Installation Notes

Installation seats the plate into the double-gang opening and secures with the enclosure's standard captive hardware. Route AC line voltage to the rear of the plate following applicable NEC guidelines for in-rack wiring. Surge suppressor outlets face outward for direct equipment plug-in. Verify the load per outlet does not exceed the suppressor's rated current before commissioning — overloading a surge plate in a sealed rack enclosure creates a thermal risk with no easy remediation.
