Open core holes compromise airflow management by creating uncontrolled bypass paths — cool air short-circuits around equipment instead of through it, raising operating temperatures. This plug eliminates that gap, maintaining the front-to-back airflow design the enclosure was engineered for. It also blocks dust ingress and reduces EMI bleed at penetration points, both relevant in raised-floor data rooms and AV equipment bays where cable routing evolves over time.
