Overview
The ABPLUG4 is a 4-inch core hole plug designed to seal unused cable cutouts in Middle Atlantic rack enclosures and equipment cabinets. Open core holes compromise airflow management by creating uncontrolled bypass paths — cool air short-circuits around equipment instead of through it, raising operating temperatures. This plug eliminates that gap, maintaining the front-to-back airflow design the enclosure was engineered for. It also blocks dust ingress and reduces EMI bleed at penetration points, both relevant in raised-floor data rooms and AV equipment bays where cable routing evolves over time.
Compatibility
Designed for Middle Atlantic enclosures and rack accessories that use standard 4-inch circular core cutouts. Fits the WRK, BGR, SRK, and ERK series cabinets, as well as Middle Atlantic sectional and freestanding racks that ship with pre-punched core knockout patterns. Verify the cutout diameter in your specific enclosure before ordering — Middle Atlantic also offers 2-inch variants for smaller penetrations. Not intended for cable-occupied openings; use brush-style grommets where active runs pass through.
Installation Notes
Snap or press fit into the core cutout — no tools or fasteners required in most Middle Atlantic cabinet applications. Confirm the panel material thickness falls within the plug's grip range; oversized gaps in non-standard panels may prevent positive retention. For network rack enclosures requiring cable management planning, seal all unused cores before commissioning airflow containment to get accurate thermal baseline readings.
