Hanwha SKY-BR820-0 CMVR-820 Recorder with 120 TB Raw / 100 TB Usable RAID 6
The Hanwha SKY-BR820-0 is a CMVR-820 enterprise rack-form-factor recorder pre-configured with 120 TB of raw storage and 100 TB of usable capacity in a RAID 6 array. It is built for medium-to-large surveillance projects where uptime, retention, and serviceability matter — campuses, transit hubs, school districts, and multi-building enterprises. RAID 6 tolerates two simultaneous drive failures, giving the operator a generous window to swap a failed drive before retention is at risk.
Key Features
- Hanwha-engineered CMVR appliance with pre-tuned WAVE recording stack
- 120 TB raw / 100 TB usable storage capacity in a RAID 6 configuration
- Dual-fault drive tolerance protects retention through a single rebuild cycle
- Enterprise SATA surveillance drives selected for 24/7 write workloads
- Rack-form factor with hot-swap drive bays
- Integrated server-grade chassis with redundant cooling
- Compatible with Hanwha WAVE VMS, including failover groups and multi-server scaling
The CMVR-820 sits at the upper end of the Hanwha all-in-one recorder line. Its sweet spot is single-site deployments with several hundred cameras at 4K or 8 MP. The pre-tuned WAVE installation eliminates much of the configuration time that comes with a build-your-own server, and Hanwha's surveillance-drive selection avoids the desktop-drive failure profile that plagues home-built NVRs after a few thousand hours.
Plan retention based on the camera count, bit rate per stream, and the percent-on time of motion-only recording. WAVE supports multi-tier retention so high-priority cameras can keep longer history while peripheral cameras roll over sooner. Configure the chassis with a UPS rated for full draw plus 20 percent and bond the rack to building earth. RAID 6 rebuilds on a 12-14 TB drive can take 24-48 hours; have a cold spare drive on site so rebuild starts the same day as failure.
