Description

Altronix RESERV1V 24VAC/12VDC CCTV UPS Power Supply with Battery Backup

Overview

The Altronix RESERV1V is a dedicated UPS power supply built for CCTV installations that cannot tolerate outages — analog cameras, dome housings, IR illuminators, and pan-tilt heads running on 24VAC or 12VDC. Unlike a generic IT UPS, the RESERV1V outputs the AC and DC voltages surveillance hardware actually expects, so there's no inverter compromise or voltage-regulation guesswork at the camera end. It runs from a 230VAC, 50Hz supply and maintains both output rails during mains failures using a pair of internal sealed lead-acid or gel-type batteries, each rated 12VDC/7AH. If you're designing a surveillance system in a region with unstable grid power or commissioning a remote enclosure where a power interruption means a service call, this is the power architecture to look at.

The RESERV1V is part of Altronix's power and UPS line — a catalog built specifically around physical security applications rather than adapted from IT infrastructure products.

Key Features

  • Dual-voltage outputs (24VAC @ 4A, 12VDC @ 2A): Most CCTV enclosures and pan-tilt mechanisms run on 24VAC; IR illuminators, locks, and smaller cameras often run 12VDC. Having both rails on a single UPS unit eliminates the need for separate power supplies and simplifies your wiring scheme — one protected power point feeds multiple device types in the enclosure.
  • 2 x 12VDC/7AH battery capacity: Two 7AH batteries in series deliver the reserve energy needed to sustain camera and peripheral operation through a typical utility interruption. Exact runtime depends on connected load, but the 14AH combined capacity is a meaningful reserve — adequate for multi-hour outages at partial load, or shorter bridge periods at full 4A AC draw.
  • Accepts sealed lead-acid or gel-type batteries: Both chemistries are field-replaceable without special tooling or proprietary battery packs. Gel cells are preferable in higher-temperature or vibration-prone enclosures; standard SLA is the lower-cost option for controlled environments. Either way, you're sourcing batteries from commodity supply channels, not waiting on a manufacturer-specific replacement.
  • AC Failure and Low Battery supervision: Onboard supervision outputs signal both AC Failure and Low Battery conditions, so your monitoring system or control panel gets an alert before the reserve is exhausted. In a staffed facility, this is the difference between a planned response and a blind outage.
  • PTC 1A output protection: A self-resetting PTC (polymeric positive temperature coefficient) device protects the output from overload without requiring fuse replacement. Under a fault condition, the PTC trips and resets automatically once the load is removed — reducing truck rolls on nuisance faults.
  • Wide operating temperature range (-33°C to 30°C): The lower end of -33°C makes the RESERV1V viable for unheated outdoor enclosures in cold climates — parking structures, perimeter buildings, and industrial sites where HVAC isn't a given. Note the 30°C upper limit: environments that regularly exceed that threshold need supplemental cooling or a different power solution.
  • CE agency listing: CE marking confirms the unit meets applicable EU safety and EMC directives, which is required for installations across the European Economic Area and accepted in many export markets. If your project requires listed equipment for site compliance, verify the specific certification needed against the CE listing.
