Description

Panduit CCAL2H4658-X Two-Hole Aluminum Cable Cleat

The Panduit CCAL2H4658-X is a two-hole aluminum cable cleat engineered for medium to high short circuit fault protection in datacenter, industrial power distribution, and electrical infrastructure applications. Certified to IEC 61914:2015 and tested to 131kA peak fault current, this cleat retains single cables (46-58mm OD) during fault events, preventing cable whip and secondary damage to adjacent systems. Ships in 10-packs for large-scale cable tray installations.

Key Features

  • IEC 61914:2015 Certified – meets international short circuit withstand standards for cable retention
  • 131kA Peak Fault Current Rating – tested for high-energy fault events in datacenter and industrial power systems
  • Aluminum Construction – lightweight, cost-effective solution for less corrosive indoor environments
  • 46-58mm Cable Diameter Range – compatible with medium/large single power cables commonly used in 3-phase distribution
  • Two-Hole Cable Tray Mount – direct installation to ladder tray rungs via user-supplied M10 bolts
  • Natural Finish – bare aluminum for conductivity; use insulating spacers (sold separately) to prevent galvanic corrosion when clamping copper-jacketed cables
  • 10-Pack Quantity – bulk packaging for large cable runs and multi-row tray installations

Short circuit faults in power distribution systems generate enormous electromagnetic forces that can cause unsecured cables to whip violently, damaging adjacent equipment and creating arc flash hazards. The CCAL2H4658-X addresses this by clamping the cable firmly to the cable tray structure, absorbing fault energy through the two-hole mounting system and aluminum clamp body. The 131kA peak fault current rating makes this cleat suitable for commercial buildings, datacenters, and industrial facilities with high-capacity electrical services—environments where fault currents can exceed 50kA and standard cable ties or j-hooks provide zero retention. IEC 61914:2015 certification ensures the cleat has been independently tested under simulated fault conditions, validating its mechanical strength and electrical performance.

The two-hole design mounts directly to the rungs of ladder-style cable tray using M10 bolts (not included), eliminating the need for cleat bases or separate brackets. The 46-58mm cable diameter range covers common single-conductor or bundled cables in 350-750 MCM sizes used for medium-voltage feeders and large UPS branch circuits. Aluminum construction keeps weight low—critical when loading cable trays to 50% fill or when mounting overhead. However, aluminum in direct contact with copper cable jackets can create galvanic cells in humid or outdoor environments; Panduit recommends using their insulating spacers and washers (sold separately, see related products) when clamping copper-jacketed cables to prevent corrosion over time. The natural aluminum finish provides good electrical continuity for bonding and grounding when required by local codes.

Each package contains 10 cleats, sufficient for a 20-foot cable run at standard 24-inch spacing intervals or 10 feet at 12-inch spacing for high-fault-current zones. Competitor equivalents include Ellis Patents 2BC048058A and Mech-Tronics 2A-08N; the Panduit cleat differentiates with wider North American distribution, comprehensive accessory ecosystem (spacers, trefoil saddles, multi-cable variants), and published installation guidance for NEC/CEC compliance in conjunction with IEC 61914 ratings. For stainless steel variants (marine, wastewater, chemical plant environments) or smaller cable diameters, see Panduit's CCSS series; for three-phase trefoil configurations, see the CCAT series.
