Overview

The CX-RIM-SB is a surface-mounted aluminum adapter box engineered to position Camden electric RIM strikes on double-door assemblies with RIM exit devices. This accessory solves the alignment problem integrators face when retrofitting electric strikes onto existing RIM hardware — the box mounts flat to the inactive door and provides precise mounting holes for strike installation, eliminating field-trial-and-error alignment. Deploy this when you're working with double-door leaf systems where the strike needs to sit flush against the inactive door frame.

Compatibility

The CX-RIM-SB works specifically with Camden CX-EPD1289L and CX-EPD1299L electric RIM strikes. It mounts onto the inactive (passive) door leaf of a double-door pair, allowing the active door's RIM exit device latch to engage the strike mounted in the box. Installation requires a standard RIM exit device already present on the active door.

Installation Notes

The box ships disassembled and must be separated before mounting. Remove four 8-36 screws to detach side plates, then slide the cover plate lip from the mounting plate groove to access the mounting surface. Use the included installation jig template to align the box center-to-center with the RIM exit device latch before securing to the inactive door frame. Mount the box horizontally at the latch height of the RIM device — typically mid-stile of the inactive door. Fastening uses either the 1/4-20 screws (into the door frame) or M5 barrel bolts (for through-bolt applications) provided in the kit. The clear anodized aluminum finish withstands typical interior commercial environments; not rated for wet or outdoor exposure.
