Description

APC by Schneider Electric AP7592 42-Outlet Basic Rack PDU

Overview

The AP7592 is a basic 1U rack-mount power distribution unit delivering 120V AC power across 42 outlets from a single NEMA L21-20P input — built for high-density equipment racks where you need to consolidate power connections without adding management overhead. At 70 inches long and running at 50/60 Hz, it fits standard EIA-310 two-post and four-post open-frame racks used in surveillance head-end rooms, data closets, and security operations centers. Where a managed PDU adds cost and complexity you don't need, the AP7592 provides straightforward, reliable power distribution for NVRs, network switches, access control panels, and other rack-mounted security infrastructure.

Compatibility

Designed for standard 19-inch rack enclosures including APC NetShelter SX, SV, and VX series, as well as open-frame two-post racks from Chatsworth, Eaton, Middle Atlantic, and similar manufacturers. The NEMA L21-20P plug requires a matching 20A locking receptacle — confirm your PDU branch circuit or UPS output bank provides a NEMA L21-20R socket before ordering. The 120V output is compatible with standard North American rack equipment: network video recorders, PoE network switches, access control servers, and video management workstations. For higher-density deployments pairing this PDU with an APC UPS or power conditioning unit, verify the upstream UPS output matches the L21-20P inlet. This unit does not provide surge protection or power monitoring — if either is required for your rack power distribution design, step up to an APC metered or switched PDU in the AP78xx or AP86xx families.

Installation Notes

The AP7592 mounts horizontally in 0U or 1U configurations depending on rack orientation — the 70 H x 2.20 W x 1.73 D inch form factor allows vertical side-mounting in most four-post enclosures, freeing rack unit space for active equipment. The 10-foot input cord provides adequate reach to an in-rack UPS or overhead busway without requiring an extension. Confirm total connected load does not exceed the 20A circuit rating; with 42 outlets, it is straightforward to approach the breaker limit in dense NVR or switch deployments — budget no more than 16A continuous (80% of rated) per NEC best practice.
