Overview
The AP9627 is a 2U rack-mount step-down transformer that converts 208V single-phase input to 120V output — solving a common data center and IDF closet problem: equipment that requires standard 120V receptacles (UPS units, cameras, NVRs, access control panels) installed in racks fed by 208V branch circuits. Rather than rewiring the panel or running a separate 120V circuit, the AP9627 drops inline in the rack and presents four NEMA L5-20R receptacles at 120V, up to 5000VA total load. The input connection is a NEMA L6-30P plug on a 2 ft cord, which connects directly to a 208V PDU or whip. Maximum input current draw is 26A at 208V, so verify your branch circuit and PDU port can supply that before committing a slot.
Compatibility
Input side requires a NEMA L6-30P receptacle on your PDU or wall outlet — standard on most rack PDUs and transfer switches with 208V 30A circuits. Output side provides four NEMA L5-20R locking receptacles rated for battery-backup loads, compatible with APC Smart-UPS and Back-UPS units with L5-20P inputs, as well as other 120V rack equipment including network video recorders, PoE switches, and access control servers that ship with standard 120V plugs. The 5000VA capacity at 120V supports mixed loads — for example, two or three mid-size UPS units or a dense NVR/switch stack — without approaching the thermal limit. Fits any standard 19-inch EIA-310 rack enclosure in 2U of vertical space.
Installation Notes
At 95 lbs, the AP9627 requires two people or a lift for safe rack installation — plan accordingly before scheduling the install. The 2 ft input cord gives limited slack; position the unit within reach of the PDU port, typically in the lower half of the rack near the power distribution run. Input frequency is 60 Hz ±3 Hz, so this unit is not suitable for 50 Hz environments or international deployments without confirming local frequency. Confirm the branch circuit breaker is rated for at least 30A before connecting; the 26A maximum draw leaves minimal headroom on a 30A circuit under full load.
